Shopping

The main street of Hisaronu has a good range of shops selling mainly beach ware, souvenirs, gifts and clothes and is closed to traffic after 7pm making it all the more pleasant shopping experience. On Mondays there is a local market which sells all sorts of goods from fake handbags to beautiful pieces of jewellery, leather, local art work and crafts. Here is a good place to practice your bargaining skills, pazarlik. A good tip is to start around 50% of the asking price as this gives you some form of credibility then aim to accept nothing less than around 75%. If you are not happy with the deal then just walk away.

Family Entertainment & Trips

Hisaronu is more than just a beach resort destination. Although the beach does provide a wealth of activities such as boat trips, pedalos, waterskiing, snorkelling, banana boats and even the odd swim there are many more land based activities which you and your family may enjoy.

As mentioned previously the benefits of being on a mountain base resort means that you can have the opportunity to enjoy some of the more adrenalin based activities such as white water rafting, canoeing, and tandem paragliding. If you are looking for something a little less frantic then try trekking or horse riding through the surrounding pine forests or if you're looking for a challenge then how about an assault on Mount Babadag – imagine the view!

The Resort

Hisaronu is located in south west Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast. Hisaronu is only ten minutes away from Oludeniz, widely recognised as being one of the best beaches in Turkey, which is one of the reasons that this resort is so popular.

Unusually for a beach resort, Hisaronu does not sit on the beach but on a mountain plateau some one thousand feet above sea level. Being so high up has several advantages. Firstly you can enjoy the incredible views of Oludeniz, the Turquoise coast, Mount Babadag and surrounding pine forests. Secondly there are a lot of mountain based activities you can enjoy such as kayaking, paragliding and trekking through the pine forests. Thirdly, the temperature in the evenings is more tolerable, due to the cooling sea breezes.

Most people go to Hisaronu just to enjoy one of Turkey’s most iconic beaches - Oludeniz. Oludeniz is very accessible from Hisaronu, being only two and a half miles away. If you fancy some exercise the walk down to the beach is quite pleasant, through a forest path, although it may be a good idea to catch one of the many dolmus’s back up the hill, especially if you have young children in tow.

As beautiful as the beach is, there is no escaping that like so many beaches in this area there is a definite lack of soft sand which can make walking on it quite uncomfortable. So make sure you have flip-flops and swimming shoes for the kids (they can keep them on all the time).
