Djerba Holidays

Situated in the south-east of Tunisia, the resort of Djerba is a well known for its beautiful beaches and location for Star Wars movies.

The Beach

The reputation of stunning beaches with beautiful crystal clear waters is well deserved. The best beaches are on the north east coast, but most are privately owned by the hotels within the tourist zone, although there are a few smaller public beaches such as the Plage Municipale (Municipal Beach). Water sports such as wind-surfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing and pedalos are all widely available.

Eating And Drinking

Eating out can also be a fantastic experience with traditional dishes of rice, curries and vegetables are traditionally eaten with fingers although cutlery is provided for tourists! Many of the smaller cafes do not serve alcohol.

The Resort

With fantastic year round sunshine, this is a great holiday destination any time. The night life is fairly quiet, but comes to life at the weekends with live music, and the best of it can be found in the up scale hotels where there are bars, nightclubs and karaoke lounges.

The best way to explore the area is by taxi, they are very cheap and readily available, bicycle and small motorbike rental is also a good choice.

Family Entertainment

Must sees include the traditional fantasia (horse show) which is organised at the amphitheatre of Midoun every Tuesday afternoon and a visit to Borj el-Kebir, Houmt Souk's fort. Also a visit to the large tourist complex with a museum of Islamic arts, a crocodile park, a heritage zone and several restaurants and shops is also must.
