Family oriented resort and nightlife caters this way too, with plenty of family bars, restaurants and cafes to enjoy.

The Resort

Puerto Santiago (the de is often left out) lies between the resorts of Los Gigantes and Playa de la Arena, these are small and tranquil tourist resorts a far cry from the bustling resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Nightlife is low-key and family orientated, though there are a large number of bars, restaurants and nightlife to choose from. There’s a great choice of cuisines on offer with fresh fish always high on the menu. During the month of July the annual fiesta to honour Our Lady of Carmen takes place which features an unforgettable fireworks display.

Limited in terms of beaches, there is one but it’s tiny, instead you’ll find a small fishing port busy with fishermen unloading their catch of the day, alternatively neighbouring Playa de las Arenas and Los Gigantes have larger beaches of volcanic black sand.

Much of the accommodation is on a hill and the gradients are fairly steep, making this resort unsuitable for those with mobility problems.

Things To Do

One of the many excursions available is to Teide National Park; Mount Teide is the third biggest volcano in the world which last erupted some 150,000 years ago; alternatively spend the day at sea dolphin and whale spotting.

Waterparks and theme parks are aplenty in Tenerife, the islands newest waterpark; Siam Park opened in September 2008 in Costa Adeje and is full of thrilling rides and attractions including a wave pool, the Wave Palace for surfers and a children’s pool.
