The resort centres on Ornos beach, a popular long stretch of beautiful golden sand and clear water set in a very long bay. Ornos beach is the nearest beach resort to the capital and is a popular choice with families and those looking for a quieter alternative to Mykonos Town and can get overcrowded in the Summer months. The beach is excellent for swimming with sand sloping gently to the sea.

Ornos beach has plenty of typical resort facilities and is lined with a selection of bars, tavernas and restaurants. Inland from the resort is the original village which stretches up steeply into the surrounding hills.

At the beach, a range of watersports are on offer including diving, waterskiing and windsurfing.

Ornos offers a good base for exploring Mykonos island and in particular the beaches in the south. There are plenty of boat excursions available to nearby Mykonos beaches and other islands including the island of Delos.

Nightlife

Ornos nightlife revolves around its beachside bars and tavernas and is much more tranquil than Mykonos Town. With the capital so close it is easy to include several nights out to sample the famous nightlife and bright lights of its world-famous neighbour.

Mykonos Town is within walking distance and regular buses and plentiful taxis make the trip into town in just 10 minutes. With a holiday in Ornos you can enjoy everything on offer in the capital while remaining a little apart in a small quieter resort.
