The Island

As well as its glorious sandy beaches Kos is rich in history with many archaeology sites including Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Venetian. The islands capital is Kos Town, cosmopolitan and lively; you’ll find ancient buildings and cultural sites, a picturesque harbour lined with tavernas, shops and bars, an ideal place to visit any time of day.

Resorts

The party capital of Kos is Kardamena, ideal for families with teenagers as well as the many bars, tavernas and clubs the resort has a sandy beach which offers all manner of watersports. Further south is the hillside town of Kefalos which has a small harbour, a sand and shingle beach and a fine choice of traditional tavernas and shops. The resort of Lambi is actually a suburb of Kos Town; ideal for those who wish to explore the capitals nightlife and amenities, the resort has a sand and shingle beach, bars and nightlife to suite all tastes. To the east of Kos Town is Psalidi, a quiet resort with a small selection of tavernas and restaurants as well as a number of beaches offering a good range of watersports. Just 10km west of Kos Town is the resort of Tingaki, ideal for families the resort has one of the best beaches on the island with a selection of watersports as well as a laid back nightlife.

Things To Do

Kos offers a wide variety of activities and sites of interests from waterparks to roman ruins, beaches and even a natural thermal spa. A range of boat trips are available on Kos including a trip to Nissyros Island, famous for its active volcano, scuba diving and trips to the surrounding coastline. There are also daily ferries to Bodrum in Turkey as well as the other larger islands of the Dodecanese. Take an excursion to Asclepion, the most significant archaeological site on the island, once a sanatorium from 500BC to 500AD.
