Boca Chica Beach covers almost two kilometres and about 500 metres out to sea is a giant semi circular reef, forming a giant natural salt water swimming pool, with a depth of about 1.5 metres. Because of the reef, the sea in Boca Chica has a very distinct and almost perfect azure blue colour. Jet skis can be hired away from the hotels and swimmers, and there is plenty of opportunities to water ski, kayak or take a banana boat ride.
