The Beach

The beach stretches for almost 6 miles so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a quiet spot, even during peak times. The beach is a mix of mainly sand with some shingle and the crystal clear waters are very shallow allowing for safe swimming. The beach front is made up of mainly hotels, restaurants, bars and tavernas. A selection of water sports are also available from the beach.

What To Do

The village of Georgioupolis is an ideal base to explore the surrounding area. The historic town of Chania can be found just twenty miles away and Rethymnon is just 12 miles. Boat trips are a good way to see the area with many tours available for visits to nearby resorts. Popular excursions also include the springs and waterfalls at the nearby village of Argiroupolis and the lake of Kournas.
