Getting Around
The town centre is compact and can comfortably be negotiated on foot. Regular local buses run along the north coast to the resort of Elounda, while regional buses travel to Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania.
The Beach
The main beach is Agio Nikolaos Municipal beach, which offers everything from cafes, sunbeds, children’s play facilities and a wide range of watersports. Other beaches close by are Kitriplatia, Ammos and the sandy Amoudi Beach.
The Resort
Aghios Nikolaos has numerous boutiques, jewellery and handicraft shops to browse as well as a Wednesday morning market along the marina. Its bustling harbour is lined with tavernas and open air cafes as well as offering trips to Spinalonga Island and the surrounding coastline. Ideal for all the family, the nightlife is varied and the choice of restaurants is broad.
