The Resort

Once a traditional fishing town, Roquetas de Mar is now the main tourist destination in the region. Its sand and shingle beach stretches for around 3km and offers all the usual tourist facilities such as sunbeds and parasols for hire, beach bars and cafes. There’s also a lively port still used by fisherman today and a great place for a wander or a drink.

For shopping the Gran Plaza features a supermarket and a number of UK fashion shops as well as a bowling alley and a cinema which during high seasons screens films in English.

Nightlife is fairly low-key with plenty of family friendly bars and restaurants, though the larger hotel complexes do offer a good range of evening entertainment. There are plenty of cuisines available sure to suit the fussiest of eaters and many of the bars have wide screen TV’s showing live sport events, as well as bingo and quiz nights.

Roquetas de Mar is well equipped with amenities with something for everyone, there’s an abundance of watersport activities on offer, a go-kart track, children’s fun park, a waterpark, crazy golf, there’s even a mini-train which runs around the resort, and for the serious golfer there’s an 18-hole course nearby.
