The Main Place To Be
Florida! As simple as that. Glorious sunshine, huge amounts
of things to do and the very heart of the family holiday.
Theme Parks or not, there's lots of things going on.
Getting There & Getting About
Flights to Florida are now daily, and either arrive at Orlando International Airport or Sanford International. Car hire here is plentiful and although it's good to be independent, local transport is readily available and relatively cheap. For car hire, remember to take both parts of your license, paper and photo ID if you have one.
Why Not Try?
Air-boat rides around the swamps to see if you can catch a glimpse of an alligator in the wild? Kennedy Space Center to launch your little astronauts into their dreams? A Helicopter ride over Orlando? With so much to do, you won't be bored!
Look out for leaflets offering discounted coupons for admissions, tickets and deals of the week. They come in very handy.
Eating & Drinking
Eating out is just as important as planning your days out. There is a huge range of places to eat. Make sure you look out for the places that offer deals for early birds, or 2 for 1 offer and kids eat free. And of course, pay special attention to the signs that say 'All you can eat buffet' these are very good value for money.
Drinking in Florida isn’t without its laws. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to buy or consume alcohol. This is enforced with ID checks. No ID, no alcohol.
The Weather
Depending on the time of year you visit, the weather can be a bit changeable. From the months of June to November, tropical storms are very common. These include frequent heavy down pours that last just a few moments or all day.
Top tip is to purchase a poncho. You may feel silly wearing it, but it goes a little way to keeping you dry and just think, everyone else looks the same as you.
Humidity levels are at their highest in the months of August to October and if going in the height of summer, carry plenty of water and sun cream with you.
