The Resorts
With so many beach holiday resorts to choose from it’s not hard to find a holiday to suit all the families’ needs, from lively Faliraki the party capital to quieter family resorts like Pefkos and Kalithea, or Afandou a traditional village filled with Greek character.
Things To Do
Rhodes has a whole host of entertainment options of both the cultural and holiday fun kind. Many of the islands historic attractions are found in the walled capital, Rhodes Town, including a medieval castle, the 14th century Palace of the Grand Masters and much more. Other sights of interest include the Valley of the Butterflies, the ancient ruins of Kamiros and the Acropolis in Lindos.
Operating throughout Rhodes there are plenty of boat trips available, from excursions to secluded beaches and surrounding islands as well as daily ferries to Marmaris in Turkey.
For family fun, Faliraki is home to the islands waterpark, attractions include slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and a children’s fun pool centred with a pirate ship.
Shopping
Rhodes’ speciality is leather and goods on sale include sandals, wallets and bags, another popular buy is pottery from Lindos, the potters still use the traditional patterns first produced in the 16th century. Situated in Rhodes Town in the Mandraki harbour area is the new market, easily spotted by its ornate entrance and domed roof. Inside there is a busy courtyard containing stalls, shops and plenty of cafes, a range of items are on offer including souvenirs, ceramics, jewellery and leather goods.
