Estepona

Estepona is one of the few coastal towns which has maintained its authentic Spanish charm, with cobbled streets, numerous street cafes and tapas bars as well as unusual shops and bodegas. The nightlife here is found mainly within the back streets of the old quarter and around the port area, and offers a good selection of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

The beaches stretch for more than 20km with no less than 15 beaches, including secluded coves and a nudist beach. The main beach is La Rada, a large expanse of sand and shingle which stretches for over 2km; there are a number of facilities and services on offer. To the west of the marina is El Cristo beach, ideal for children the beach is situated in a sheltered cove and there are a couple of beach bars here. To the east of town is the Costa Natura beach officially authorised as a nudist beach.

Three of Estepona’s main fiestas are San Isidiro celebrated on May 15th with processions and a party in the countryside, the feast of San Juan takes place on June 23rd when the locals light bonfires on the beach and the Chiringuitos serve traditional char-grilled sardines, and the festival of the Virgen del Carmen on July 16th when a statue is carried out to sea on fishing boats.

The marina is the main spot for water activities, as well as boat hire and excursions there are numerous watersports on offer including jet-skiing, parasailing, water-skiing, fishing, diving and pedalos. For a family fun day out visit the Selwo Adventure Park, situated just 10km from Estepona, its a mix of nature park, safari and adventure park, featuring a wide range of animals living in semi-wild conditions. Further activities on offer include a horse riding centre, mountain biking and hiking as well as two nearby golf courses.
