Mojacar

The tourist area is found along the coastline just a few kilometres from the original inland village of the same name, the town is an elevated mountain settlement, picturesque with white houses and narrow cobbled winding streets.

Mojacar Playa is a sand and shingle beach, gently shelving and stretching for around 7km. The usual tourist facilities are available such as sun-lounger and parasol hire, various watersports and a range of bars and restaurants.

Nightlife is a fairly low-key affair centred mainly within the hotel complexes, though there are plenty of bars and restaurants and even a couple of music bars and discos.

A visit to the picturesque village is a must, with its Moorish fortress and maze of cobbled back streets filled with boutiques, bars and street cafes. And on Wednesday mornings the weekly street market takes place with numerous stalls selling essentials to the locals.

The resort is great for sports enthusiasts and has an array of watersports on offer, with jet-skiing, paragliding and waterskiing there’s also a sailing club and a dive centre. On dry land there are two nearby horse riding centres and numerous golf courses within easy reach.

For a family fun day out the Vera Waterpark is just a short bus journey away, and features several slides, pools and kid’s play areas. Alternatively, near the town of Tabernas around 60km away, visit the remnants of the studio sets at Mini Hollywood and Texas Hollywood. The landscape made it ideal for shooting westerns and some of the films made here include Lawrence of Arabia, a Fistful of Dollars and the Good the Bad and the Ugly.
