Tossa de Mar

The most attractive part of the resort is its historic old quarter, the Villa Vella, with its cobbled streets and ancient defence walls and towers still in tact. Nightlife here is low-key though the resort has its fair share of late-night bars and clubs, some of which lay on entertainment during high season. There are plenty of good restaurants down at the seafront offering both international cuisine and local dishes.

Tossa de Mar’s coastline stretches for over 13km, with no less than 16 sandy beaches and small coves to the north and south of the town centre. Many are well served with watersports, bars and cafes and others with little or no facilities, offering something for everyone. Platja Gran is the main horseshoe-shaped sandy bay at the centre of the resort; the beach has plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as offering a good selection of watersports including a nautical club. The nearby Mar Menuda beach (also known as Sa Palma) is equally well served as well as having a dive centre.

There are plenty of interesting day trips and local excursions to be enjoyed from the resort or travel further afield to the major visitor attractions of Barcelona and the Benedictine monastery in the mountainous region of Montserrat. For a family fun day out visit the waterpark just outside Lloret de Mar or the Marineland complex near Blanes. The Sa Riera park is just 800 metres from the town, a man-made nature reserve consisting of a Mediterranean forest, river and lake with an underground watering system all designed to encourage a wealth and diversity of plant and animal life. The area is ideal for planned walks and cycle rides or take a boat trip along the coast and visit nearby resorts and beaches.
