Surrounded by two large salt water lakes Torrevieja has a lot to offer visiting holidaymakers, along with the fine sandy beaches there are numerous restaurants serving a wide variety of international cuisines, lively bars, good shopping facilities, water parks, a small fairground and several cinemas.
For the more active there’s a good range of watersports available including sailing, windsurfing and diving; there’s also a large indoor sports centre with tennis courts and an Olympic sized swimming pool, there’s even a flying club here; and for golf lovers there are three 18-hole courses to the south of Torrevieja.
Like most Spanish towns and villages Torrevieja has its fair share of fiestas and celebrations; during May it hosts the May Fair, June is St John’s bonfires and a further three take place July and August.
